After weeks of work and editing and paying for a new cover, my book has been re-released. I decided to give copies away to ten of my friends on Facebook. It took only about 30 minutes before 10 of my friends put their names in. I was also surprised at how many people were disappointed that they missed out!
For those that missed being one of the ten, I have decided to have a weekly lottery and give away one copy.
One thing that really overwhelmed me was the fact that so many friends "Liked" my post and asked for a copy, and many of them I haven't seen or physically spoken to for over 20 years. It really makes me feel good that I am getting support from long-time friends. I was also happy that some of my former students were on the Ten List.
This book took many years to write, probably longer than it should have. But I have found that it's hard to write at work, and I really need to get more energy and self-discipline to get my writing done. When I wrote my first book "Bloody Kisses" which this book is a re-imagined version of, I was young and was in a big hurry. The final product was one that I was not happy with. I know that the book was rushed as I was trying to meet a deadline to get a good price for the self-published book. I decided after that to not do business with that publisher again. The book is still available for a REALLY outrageous price, so I'm hoping that people will forget about it and just read the new one! A few friends and family did purchase it back in the day, and most of them were kind in their reviews, but I still was still not happy with the book.
With this book it is a different story. I had my wife edit it, but she mostly edited for grammar and spelling. It is never a good idea to have someone who loves you edit your writing. I know that my writing hero Stephen King allows his wife to do it, but I don't recommend it to anyone. My dear friend and fellow writer recommended some people she met on Facebook that were editors and she also introduced me to someone created book covers. I immediately had the book pulled and sought out their help. I have to say that I am very pleased with the results. I owe Shannon, Taylor, and Stacey a whole lot of thanks!!
Now I return to focusing on my other upcoming projects. I will talk more about them in later blogs. It is my hope and prayer that this book will be the one that will help me to live my dream as a professional writer. I can only hope and dream. No, I can work hard to make it happen!!
